Over The Influence Gallery L.A.
LOS ANGELES, CA
Located in the bustling Arts District of Los Angeles, Over the Influence is an adaptive re-use of a 1930s bowstring truss warehouse as a museum-quality art gallery. The space is designed to display works of international contemporary artists in five distinct galleries. Clean surfaces are contrasted against the patina of the original structure, which allows the original character of the building to be appreciated without distracting from the artists’ work. A subtle meeting of old and new is achieved by careful attention to proportions within the space. Each of the five spaces are designed to complement a wide variety of mediums on display. These galleries compress and expand to create spaces of slightly differing scales, and are designed to use alternating lighting sources: daylight, artificial light, and a combination of both. The effect is a series of galleries with individual characteristics for a diverse array of artists.
