Mt. Olympus Neighborhood Entry

The existing Mt. Olympus Neighborhood main entry monument was built in the mid-1960s. AUX was asked to design three concepts of varying scales to share with neighborhood stakeholders. Each concept featured travertine stone, lighting and water features, and plants appropriate to our Mediterranean climate, and blended classic Greek architecture with a modern aesthetic.

The selected design blends elements from each option. In the center island, a large block of honed travertine has the neighborhood’s name carved on each side and a stepped water feature gently follows the sloped road. A minimal plant palette allows a single large olive tree to be featured. Security services will be stationed just past the island. New travertine planters and landscape will be installed on the south side of the entry area.
