The Glorya Kaufman Community Center at the Wende Museum has been named a 2026 International Architecture Award Winner. Presented by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, the international design program recognizes outstanding new architecture worldwide.
With the Glorya Kaufman Community Center, AUX transformated an existing structure into a dynamic cultural and community space within the Wende Museum’s Culver City campus. Rather than demolish and replace the original A-frame building, the architects adapted it into a dynamic multi-purpose space and added new community education and meeting rooms. The expanded campus provides flexible spaces for exhibitions, performances, education, and gatherings, while connecting to the museum, its gardens, and the surrounding community.
