AUX Architecture’s Sunset Park Townhomes has received a 2026 AIA Los Angeles Design Merit Award in the Multi-Unit Residential category. Presented by the American Institute of Architects Los Angeles (AIA|LA), the annual Design Awards recognize excellence and innovation in architectural design.
Located in Santa Monica, the 9,500-square-foot, Sunset Park Townhomes is a three-unit residential development offering a thoughtful approach to urban infill housing. Stepped building volumes break down the project’s scale and create private outdoor terraces, while a subterranean garage allows for landscaped pedestrian pathways. The design demonstrates how small-scale multifamily housing can introduce greater residential density while responding to the character of an established neighborhood.
The award was presented at the 2026 AIA|LA Design Awards ceremony on October 27 at the Petersen Automotive Museum, where architects and industry leaders gathered to celebrate outstanding architectural work.
