AUX ARCHITECTURE WINS AWARD FOR GLORYA KAUFMAN PEROFRMING ARTS CENTER AT 52nd ANNUAL LABC ARCHITECTURAL AWARDS
Awards from Los Angeles Business Council Celebrate Designs that Respond to and Build Community
LOS ANGELES (December 1, 2022) – AUX Architecture was honored at the 52nd Annual Los Angeles Architectural Awards, winning the Renovation Design Award in recognition of Glorya Kaufman Performing Arts Center. The award ceremony, hosted by the Los Angeles Business Council on December 1, recognized more than 40 architectural and design projects that exemplify architecture’s unique power to build community starting with inviting people to actively participate in the design process.
Hundreds of submissions competed in categories ranging from education and healthcare to housing and commercial office space. The jury panel was comprised of industry experts in architecture, design, engineering, building development and building owners.
“This year the LABC is honoring projects that exemplify a new model of architecture, one that not only excels in design and execution but also has a meaningful impact in their communities, “said Mary Leslie, president of the L.A. Business Council.
The Grand Prize went to the Sixth Street Viaduct Bridge, a 3,500 cinematic icon designed not just as a transportation link but as a community destination that embraces walkability and pedestrian connection. The Audrey Irmas Pavilion at the Wilshire Boulevard Temple Academy Museum of Motion Pictures took home the esteemed Chairman’s Award for answering the community’s call for a gathering place where people can come together for religious and cultural events.
Mia Lehrer, president of Studio-MLA and one of Los Angeles’ most accomplished landscape architects, received the second annual LA Community Legacy Award, for her expansive vision to improve quality of life through landscape architecture.
